Dog Training Services

Whether you want help training your puppy or adult dog, in your house or in our fully fenced training centre, we can help you. All training is done using positive methods - no force is used.

I have a Certificate IV in Dog Behaviour and Management - the only nationally accredited dog training qualification. I am also a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. You can also find out more about me by clicking here. I am currently training many dogs from pet dogs just wanting to learn manners, to puppies attending puppy preschool, to competition agility and obedience dogs. My own dogs compete successfully in agility, obedience, sheep herding and the show ring. Have a look at their web pages to see all the titles they have won.

If you can not get to any classes for training, or do not want to travel to get help training your dog, or just want to teach your dog some specific behaviours in your own home, then we will come to you. You might want to teach your dog some basic manners, eg do not jump up, toilet training, or to walk nicely on a lead. You can get individual attention to any problems you might be experienceing. Contact me for more details and prices.

Training at our training centre

We have set up two fully fenced outdoor training areas, and one indoor training area. We have a complete set of competition standard agility equipment.

Outdoor area 1 - with agility equipment - 25m x 35m, with 4 foot high chain mesh fence.

Outdoor area 2  - 20m x 20m flat grassed area, with shade trees and 6 ft chain mesh fence, and fully enclosed indoor training hall - 15m x 5m.

Private training is available by appointment, and group lessons are run on Fridays and some Saturdays - contact us for more information and prices. Agility training is only run in dry weather, but obedience training can run in any weather, including in the evenings in our indoor training hall.

Puppy Training

If your dog is under 6 months old then he or she will benefit from puppy pre school. At puppy preschool your puppy learns valuable socialising skills. He will learn to socialise appropriately with other puppies of a variety of breeds, colours and sizes. He will also learn to socialise with different people and to accept all sorts of handling. By the end of our 5 week course he will accept nail clipping, ear cleaning and grooming, as well being handled by different people, and also being handled on a table (like at the vets). We will teach you how to give your dog a tablet and how to clip your puppies' nails, thus saving future vet visits for these simple tasks. You will teach your puppy to sit, drop, stand, come and give up valued objects and start teaching walking on a lead.

The local vets and dog training clubs comment that they can tell which dogs that have attended puppy preschool due to their good behaviour.

To attend puppy preschool your puppy must have had his first vaccination at least two weeks prior. Classes are held in our indoor training hall on a Thursday night 7pm - 8pm. It is a 5 week course and costs $40.00
